R. Babey, Ph.D.
Dr. Evelyn R. Babey has more than 30 years of national
and international leadership and management experience
in registrar and enrollment services offices in all
levels of higher education. Most recently Dr. Babey
served as the Dean of Central Academic and Student
Services at the Higher Colleges of Technology in the
United Arab Emirates. She was Assistant Vice President
For Enrollment Services/University Registrar and Banner
Project Leader at Georgia State University (GSU). Prior
to GSU, Dr. Babey was the University Registrar at the
University of California, Davis. She had other experiences
in the City University of New York and the New Jersey
State College system. Dr. Babey holds an M.S Ed. degree
in College Student Personnel from the State University
of New York at Albany and a Ph.D. degree in Organizational
Studies from New York University. Dr. Babey’s
proven strengths include visionary leadership, strategic
planning, administrative use of technology, personnel,
budgetary and organizational management, space design
and management, and excellent communication skills.

Mark
Daddona is the Director of the Center for Academic
Success and Assistant Professor of Psychology at
Clayton State University located near Atlanta, Georgia.
In this role, he coordinates all academic support
services for students including tutorial services,
Supplemental Instruction (SI), academic success workshops,
and peer mentoring. He also serves as the Director
of Learning Support programs where he coordinates
academic advising and implements State guidelines
for learning support students who are required to
enroll in developmental courses. In addition, he
coordinates the Clayton Academic Referral Effort
(CARE) early warning program and teaches the university
foundations/college success course.
As
a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Georgia,
Mark's counseling interests include career counseling,
student development, and issues related to college
adjustment. To better understand the needs and concerns
of first year students, he developed the Freshman
College Survey, which measures personal/emotional,
social, academic, and career needs of students.
Mark
holds a M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Supervision
from the University of South Florida and a Ph.D.
in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from
The University of Georgia. His prior experience includes
over 15 years of college teaching, ten years of university
administration, and six years of academic advising.
Mark is a member of the National College Learning
Center Association (NCLCA), American College Personnel
Association (ACPA), American Counseling Association
(ACA), American College Counseling Association (ACCA),
National Career Development Association (NCDA), and
the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA),
in addition to several state associations. He has
conducted numerous presentations at state, regional,
and national conferences.

Dr.
Richard Rainsberger has been called a "college
registrar's registrar." He has a successful
34-year track record as a professional college registrar.
He also has acted as a registrar consultant for more
than 50 colleges and universities.
He
provides in-depth expertise in registrar's office
operations in the areas of improving job evaluations,
developing position descriptions, executing organizational
change, initiating documentation procedures, streamlining
transfer credit evaluation, integrating automated
room scheduling with current systems, and implementing
new student information systems. He is also a nationally
recognized expert on FERPA. Since 1987, he has conducted
FERPA training workshops at the annual AACRAO meeting
and for the faculties and staffs of more than 20
colleges and universities. He was the author/editor
of the widely acclaimed FERPA Guides of 1995, 1998,
and 2001. He writes two columns on FERPA for two
national publications. He also has presented numerous
papers to professional associations, including the
American Council on Education, National Association
of College and University Attorneys, National Association
of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the Association
of College Honor Societies, the North American Association
of Commencement Officers, and for state governmental
representatives of Kentucky and Illinois.

"Cliff" Ramirez
is the President and Founder of Cliff Ramirez & Associates (pdrenterprises.net),
a FERPA and organizational development training company
designed for higher education and other service industries.
In conjunction with LRP Publications, Cliff has produced
a number of FERPA training products. He is the author
of two books based upon "Managing the Privacy
of Student Records," a highly successful FERPA
workshop he created and developed. Cliff has also released "FERPA
Fundamentals: What Higher Education Administrators
Should Know," a FERPA training video, and "FERPA:
What You Can and Can't Release," an audiocassette
based upon a nationally broadcast audio conference
he conducted.
Working in higher education since 1990, Cliff spent
14 years at UCLA as Assistant Registrar for both Training & Communication
Services and for Academic Record Services. In addition
to his responsibilities as the campus FERPA trainer
and expert, Cliff also served in a temporary appointment
to address morale and organizational development issues
in the UCLA Division of Student Affairs.
Active in his profession, Cliff has been a member of the American Association
of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the American Society
for Training & Development (ASTD), the Council on Law in Higher Education
(CLHE), the National Notary Association (NNA), and the Pacific Association of
Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (PACRAO).
Among Cliff's many achievements are the founding of three prestigious professional
development institutes. As ASA president, Cliff founded the UC Management & Leadership
(UCML) Conference in 1995 and the ASA Leadership Development Institute in 1999.
As PACRAO President in 2003, he developed and hosted the very first PACRAO Emerging
Professionals Institute for new and developing registrars and admissions professionals.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Cliff studied
at the Graduate Theological Union while studying for
the Roman Catholic priesthood. His diverse background
includes 12 years at Bank of America, working in its
branches operations and corporate communications divisions.
Kenneth
L. Servis

Kenneth L. Servis is the Dean of Academic Records
and Registrar and Professor of Chemistry at the University
of Southern California. Since his appointment as
dean in 1989, numerous innovative services have been
initiated for USC students, including STARS (progress
to degree reports), TOUCH USC (information kiosks),
OASIS (online access to student information services),
Degree Navigator (visual catalogue and degree requirement
tool), Transcript Express (transcript ordering via
IVR and Internet), and WebReg (schedule builder and
Web registration). At USC he provides advice on matters
related to academic records, curricular records, grading
policies and procedures, and policies related to degree
programs and requirements. He recently chaired the
AACRAO Outsourcing Task Force and is program director
for the AAU Registrars group.
After
graduating from Purdue University with a B.S. in
Chemistry, he obtained a Ph.D. in Chemistry from
the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Servis
has been honored with an Alfred B. Sloan Fellowship,
a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Fulbright Fellowship.
He has received the Diploma of Honor from Phi Kappa
Phi. He has been a member of the faculty at USC and
has served as President of the Academic Senate and
University Marshal. He is a member of AACRAO, PACRAO,
EDUCAUSE and AAU Registrars. He has made numerous
presentations at annual meetings of CUMREC, EDUCAUSE,
AACRAO and PACRAO.

Dr. Gloria Kapp recently retired from her position
as Senior Director, Admissions and Systems,
at California State University, Long Beach.
Prior to assuming her Senior Director position, Dr.
Knapp was Director of Admissions and Financial Aid
and Director of Financial Aid at CSULB. Her experience
on other campuses includes financial aid management,
student activities and housing. She holds a master’s
degree in College Student Personnel from Michigan State
University and a Ph. D. in Higher Education from UCLA.
Her
experience integrates a rich blend of student development
philosophy with practical management of the critical
enrollment services programs of financial aid and
admissions. Early in her career she discovered the
importance of automation and technical support in
accommodating large numbers of applicants and growing
complexity in financial aid programs and admissions
decisions. She has extensive experience putting in
automated systems and enhancing those systems with
additional technology. Most recently she chaired
the Admissions Module in the CSULB installation of
the PeopleSoft Student Administration System.
Dr.
Kapp’s pioneering work as Project Manager for
the implementation of document imaging systems in
financial aid and enrollment services units enabled
CSULB to fully utilize imaging for all financial
aid and academic documents. Dr. Kapp continued to
provide leadership for additional imaging applications
until her retirement.
She
also has participated extensively in professional
associations and activities. In 1991 she served as
President of the California Association of Student
Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA), and she has
served on committees or held offices in the regional
and national financial aid associations as well as
regional and national committees of the College Board.
She was a presenter on several topics at the meetings
of these and other associations.
Robert
"Bob" Strobel

Robert “Bob” Strobel
has more than 26 years as an enrollment manager in
higher education. He has led numerous student information
systems implementations. He was project manager for
installation of three different student information
systems—PeopleSoft, Banner and IA SIS+. Most
recently Mr. Strobel was Assistant Vice President
for Enrollment Management at California State University,
Hayward (now East Bay), where he was responsible
for enacting strategies that resulted in a 25 percent
one-year increase of first-time freshman enrollment.
While he was at Hayward, Mr. Strobel also activated
the Enrollment Services e-Business plan that utilized
a variety of technologies and resulted in a more
efficient and effective enrollment services operation.
Prior
to joining Cal State Hayward, Mr. Strobel established
the University of Rhode Island’s first enrollment
services unit and was the Director of Enrollment
Services and Registrar. His greatest strengths include
the application of technology in enrollment services
units to improve customer service. Throughout his
career he has successfully integrated enrollment
service staff and units to reduce costs and improve
services. He also has developed and implemented comprehensive
strategic enrollment management plans.
Mr.
Strobel earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at William
Paterson College of New Jersey and his Master of
Public Administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson
University.

S. Ponder

William
S. Ponder has more than 25 years of higher education
enrollment management and student affairs experience.
From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Ponder was the Vice President
for Student Affairs at Eastern Washington University
in Cheney, Washington. During the previous 10 years,
he was the university’s first Associate Vice
President for Enrollments Services. In these roles,
he was instrumental in the successful expansion of
Eastern Washington’s student population from
6,800 students in 1999 to its present total of 10,000
students. Mr. Ponder’s enrollment management
background also includes the positions of Registrar
of the Pierce College District and Shoreline Community
College, where he also served in several acting director
roles, and Associate Director of Admissions and Outreach
at the University of California, Riverside.
Mr.
Ponder received his Master of Science degree in Counseling,
his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, and a Standard
Teaching Credential from San Diego State University.
He earned a California Community College Counseling
Credential and attended Harvard University Graduate
School of Education in its Management Development
Program.
He
is a leader and has expertise in enrollment management,
student affairs, first-year experience programs,
and student transition and diversity programs. Mr.
Ponder has senior level leadership experience in
enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems implementations,
including involvement in making strategic decisions
focusing on personnel, contractual obligations, resource
allocation and IT staffing. He has experience working
through faculty governance issues and policy development
that result from an ERP installation.
Mr.
Ponder is an active professional. His knowledge and
expertise have been recognized regionally and nationally.
He is an author, a facilitator and a frequent presenter
at AACRAO, NACAC and PACRAO meetings. Mr. Ponder
is a member of the White House National Science Foundation
Mentorship Awards Selection Committee, the National
Association Of College Admissions Counselors, Commission
on Minority Recruitment and Retention in America
and the Leadership Development Initiative Committee,
Harvard Higher Education Institute. He is a founding
board member of the Statewide Faculty and Staff of
Color Conference for the State of Washington.
Bill
has consulted with numerous colleges and recently
finished an assessment of academic/student affairs
and student/faculty and staff diversity at the University
of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. He believes in providing
comprehensive, well-balanced, and strategically focused
solutions to enrollment management challenges.
Some
of Bill’s specific accomplishments:
- Created
the First-Year Experience program at Eastern Washington
University.
- Established
the first enrollment management infrastructure
at Eastern Washington University, Shoreline Community
College and Pierce College, and developed an enrollment
management predictive model at each.
- Developed
the first student life advocacy position at Eastern
Washington in support of the Women’s Against
Violence Grant from the Department of Justice.
- Assisted
in planning and opening of the first public-private
residential hall development in the history of
Eastern Washington University.
- Under
the direction of the Eastern Washington Board of
Trustees, established the diversity initiative,
Campus Climate Assessment for Students, Faculty
and Staff.
- Created
Eastern Washington’s diversity grant process
and the first campus-wide diversity showcase (which
to date has amassed a total of $200,000 in support).
